Anthony Cacace defeats Jazza Dickens to become two-time super-featherweight champion

Belfast's Anthony Cacace became a two-time super featherweight world champion after beating Jazza Dickens by unanimous decision in Dublin to take the WBA belt.

Dickens earned the WBA strap thanks to a fourth-round knockout of Albert Batyrgaziev last July before being upgraded to full world champion, but 'The Apache' sealed a unanimous decision to dethrone the defending champion from Liverpool and become a two-time world champion at the age of 37.

The three judges in Dublin score it 115-113, 116-112 and 116-113 in favour of Cacace who added to his statement victory over Leigh Wood nine months ago.

It is the second time that Cacace has won a title at 130 pounds having also captured the IBF title back in May 2018 when the Irishman knocked out Joe Cordina.

"That showed you what I can do on a poor night at the office and still win a world title," Cacace told DAZN after.

"Jazza had an awkward style, a southpaw and was hard to hit but I'm the new world champion."

He added: "I'm looking at bigger names now. I want to unify the division. I want [Emanuel] Navarrete next."

Promoter Frank Warren said: "It's all credit to him and his team. He's got himself back together over the last few years and has shown himself what he is about, he has always had great skills and he should be really proud of himself.

"We're going to get bigger fights for him. We're coming back here, Ireland, this is his home and this is where we are going to make fights happen for him. We can get a big unification fight here, I will make sure that happens."
